Every day in my clinical practice, I see how our bodies hold the narratives we tell ourselves. A tight shoulder isn't always just a muscle problem; sometimes, it's a manifestation of a responsibility we aren't ready to set down.
Listening to the Body's Voice
We often treat our bodies as machines to be fixed — mechanics we visit when a part wears out. But the body is also a library. It stores the history of our stress, our grief, and our unexpressed boundaries.
When we ignore the emotional component of our physical experience, we miss half the conversation. We treat the symptom but ignore the signal.
"The body is the most honest thing we have. It cannot lie about how we are feeling."
Integration, Not Just Relief
True healing often involves more than just physical relief. It involves integration — bringing the parts of our story that we have rejected or ignored back into the fold. When we acknowledge the weight we are carrying, we often find that the physical load becomes lighter too.
